Navras Series | Episode 5 – Veer : Building Courage From Within By Vasundhara Shukla

Courage is rarely the absence of fear. More often, it is the quiet decision to move forward anyway — in the small moments, the unspoken conversations, the choices we keep deferring. In the Indian aesthetic tradition of Navras, this quality is known as Veer — the rasa of courage, determination, and empowered action. Like the peak of summer itself, Veer carries the energy of fire: the kind that does not destroy but illuminates, propels, and transforms.

Yet courage is not one-dimensional. It lives in layers — in the body, in the breath, in the stories we tell ourselves about what we are and are not capable of. Some days it appears as bold action. Other days, it is simply the courage to stay honest, to begin again, or to ask for what we truly need. Navras Series | Episode 5 explores how courage already moves through you, and how simple, embodied techniques can help you anchor into it — especially in the moments when it feels furthest away.

Vasundhara Shukla creates a space to explore what Veer means for your life right now — the steps you've been waiting to take, the life you genuinely want, and the inner resources that have always been available to you. Come as you are. The fire is already within.

Description

There is a particular kind of pause that most of us know well. The moment just before a difficult conversation. The edge of a decision we have been circling for weeks. The morning we wake up knowing something needs to change but unsure how to begin. In these moments, what we are really waiting for is not the right time or the right conditions. We are waiting for courage. In the Indian aesthetic tradition of Navras, this quality is known as Veer — the rasa of courage, determination, and empowered action. It is the inner fire that does not wait for permission. And like the peak of summer that mirrors it, Veer carries both heat and clarity: the kind that burns away hesitation and leaves behind something true.

But courage, as most of us have experienced, is rarely simple. It is not a single bold gesture or a permanent state we arrive at once and keep forever. It is layered, contextual, and deeply personal. The courage required to speak honestly in a relationship is different from the courage to begin something new, or to let something go. The courage to rest when the world says to push harder. The courage to want what we actually want, rather than what seems safe or sensible. Veer, as an emotional rasa, holds all of these expressions. It is not the absence of doubt or fear — it is the quality that allows us to move forward in spite of them, rooted in something deeper than comfort.

Navras Series | Episode 5 – Veer: Building Courage From Within is an invitation to explore this quality in an embodied, personal way.

On June 5th, 2026, at 6:30 PM (online), Vasundhara Shukla opens the fifth episode of the Navras journey, where Veer is explored not as an abstract virtue but as a living experience — one that can be felt in the body, recognised in everyday choices, and consciously cultivated. Drawing from the wisdom of Indian aesthetic philosophy and somatic awareness, this session guides participants to examine how their actions are shaped by the presence or absence of courage, and how to return to it whenever it feels out of reach.

This is not a session about becoming fearless or performing strength. It is about understanding the texture of your own courage — where it naturally arises, where it gets blocked, and how specific techniques can help you anchor yourself in it when it matters most. Through guided reflection, contemplative inquiry, and embodied practices, participants will explore the relationship between courage and action, and discover what becomes possible when Veer is no longer something we wait for, but something we learn to access.
