Spiritual Jazz with Breath Work by Gurbani Kaur

Most of us were taught that calm is a place you reach once the day is handled and the mind is tidy. So we wait for it. Meanwhile the breath has been running the whole time, uncounted and a little too shallow, ignored until something goes wrong.

Here, you don't have to wait.

Spiritual Jazz and Breathwork is built the way jazz is built: a few simple structures, a lot of listening, and no obligation to land anywhere in particular. The music moves, the breath moves with it, and whatever surfaces, a sigh, a laugh, a long quiet, is allowed to be the right note. You don't need experience, a practice or the right frame of mind. You need a body that breathes, which you already have.

Gurbani Kaur holds the room lightly. She brings depth without ceremony and trusts the evening to unfold at the pace the people in it can actually meet. Nothing is staged, and nobody is asked to get it right.

Description

"Just breathe" may be the most common advice there is, and the one we follow least. We say it to each other in hard moments, take one deliberate inhale for show, and carry on holding everything exactly where it was.

The breath itself never stopped. It has been working all day, adjusting to every deadline, every conversation you swallowed, every decision you postponed. It tightens when you're braced and thins out when you're tired. A lot of what you're carrying is written in it, if you slow down enough to read it.

Spiritual Jazz and Breathwork is an evening for slowing down enough.

What Makes This Different

Spiritual jazz came from musicians who treated music as a way toward something larger than the song: long, searching pieces that reward listening over analysing. This gathering borrows that spirit. The music holds the room, the breath gives you a way into your own body, and conversation fills the spaces in between.

Nothing is rehearsed. There is no technique to get right and no insight scheduled for the end. Someone may cry, someone may laugh for no reason, someone may feel very little and be restless for twenty minutes. All of it counts as taking part. Jazz works the same way. You listen, you respond, and the note nobody planned often turns out to be the truest one.

Whatever your breath does that night is the right material to work with.

What This Gathering Offers

  • Guided breathwork, paced so you can follow it even if you've never tried it before
  • Spiritual jazz that sets the mood and gives your breath something to move with
  • Open conversation where plain words are welcome and no spiritual vocabulary is needed
  • Room to stay quiet and simply listen if that's what the evening needs from you
  • A group of people who are there to be present, with nobody grading or comparing

Meet Your Guide: Gurbani Kaur

Gurbani Kaur is an Integrated Clinical Hypnotherapist, Trainer and Energy Healer, and her training shows in how little she needs to say to make a room feel safe. She brings real depth to her work and carries it lightly, so the people in front of her never feel they are being worked on.

She facilitates the way a good jazz player leads: setting a pulse, listening closely, and following the group wherever it goes. Questions are met with humour as readily as seriousness, and nothing in her room asks you to look more healed than you feel.
